“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you”- Maya Angelou Writing. The most many of us write on a daily basis are social media posts and texts, but writing is one of mankind’s oldest technologies. It is a relic that has persisted over thousands of years from its first conception in Ancient Mesopotamia and is a vehicle that can enable us to articulate our inner worlds to one another. As the great writer Maya Angelou once said “There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you”; This workshop will teach you how to tell that which is untold in you! This workshop will also educate you on how to begin to write poetry, short stories, build characters, scenes and settings as well as other essential skills to help you begin your journey as a Writer. We will also learn how to begin channeling your emotions, thoughts and experiences in a healthy way into your own writing to create powerful pieces. Writing is an art form and so this workshop will also teach you how to use music, art, dance and nature as an accompanying tool to enhance your ability to express yourself deeply through writing. This workshop is for people aged 11-17 years old and is suitable for all levels of experience.
