Explore the fascinating uses of soluble fabric and machine embroidery.

  • Starts 25 Aug
  • 60 British pounds
  • Location 1

This workshop combines both free motion embroidery and soluble fabric to create stunning piece of textile artwork. When washed the soluble fabric dissolves, leaving just the thread behind, creating art made solely of thread. The morning is set aside to explore the possibilities and limitations of soluble fabric, making a series of small samples to learn from as well as to inspire future artwork. After the lunch break, the afternoon is set aside to create your own unique pieces of artwork in both 2-D and 3-D - making pieces that can be framed, bowls, brooches and anything else you can think of! By the end of the workshop you'll have your series of samples as well as at least one piece of artwork. All materials are supplied; however you will need to bring your own sewing machine, bobbins and free motion foot. The workshop is suitable for all levels of experience, including beginners. You will need to know how to thread your machine. The workshop runs from 10-3, with a short break for lunch. Refreshments are provided, you will need to bring your own lunch.
