This workshop is suitable for those with some free machine embroidery experience or who have attended the beginner’s workshop. During this workshop those skills will be developed to enable you to create more complex designs, improve your techniques and explore more unusual materials such as paper and balsa wood. You’ll also explore in more depth how to manipulate the colours produced and tensions of the sewing machine to create unusual and interesting stitches, including feather stitch and whip stitch. We’ll also discuss and explore tackling larger projects and how to manage them on a standard size sewing machine. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a set of inspiring samples and have at least started a piece of unique textile artwork. You will need to bring your own sewing machine, bobbins and free machine embroidery foot; all other materials are provided. The workshop runs from 10-3 with a short lunch break. Refreshments are provided, however you'll need to bring your own lunch. We have a fridge for packed lunches and many cafes nearby.
